Riverdale: Have You Ever Experienced the Highs and Lows of High School Football?

Oh my god. This is one of most clear examples of a hate-watch show I can think of. Sure, some of us hate-watched The Vampire Diaries or TeenWolf, but I would argue that both of those shows have big enough fanbases that I think it outweighs the hatred. On the contrary, I can't think of a single person who genuinely watched Riverdale beyond the second season because they actually enjoyed the show. Why did we like it then?
I mean ... did we? Perhaps in the first season we enjoyed a teenage murder mystery. A small town that's hiding something much more sinister. It had a good premise. Once we got past the first two seasons and they added in a serial killer (that apparently is a hereditary trait?) and magic powers, I think we lost the plot. Literally.
What can we take from it now? One of the clearest applications of Riverdale to modern day is tiktok soundbites. I legitimately asked my homeschooled coworker if she'd ever known the highs and lows of high school football. I know that we often reference the whole "I'm weird. I'm a weirdo." speech in jest, but if nothing else the show teaches us that you can produce a hella strange show and somehow make money off of it.
